soooooooooooooooo Thanksgiving was great. I got to see my favorite cousin, and his replacement, and some other awesome relatives. The salmon was excellent as always, and who knew that sparkling blood orange juice was so good?
but the trip home was not so good. I was stuck in SeaTac for SIX HOURS!
I walked into the airport and checked the departures board to see what gate I was going to and to my suprise the board said CANCELED next to my flight. So I call my mom to come back and help me figure out what to do. Apparently, they canceled my original flight, and booked me for a flight back today at 2:30 pm, which we had to wait in line for an hour and a half to find out. I was like "uh, no. I can't miss four classes." so they told us to go wait in the Alaska line and hope to make a flight on standby, even though chances weren't good. so we wait in that line for a half hour or so and after lots of talking to people and reassuring them that they were allowed to do this, I get my standby ticket and head to security.
I make it safely through security, only being stupid once and attempting to walk through a metal detector with my phone in my pocket. Guess what? I was randomly selected for a pat-down. WONDERFUL.
I then proceeded to see Lexi and Sarah, both from school. Lexi was one of my directors for Frosh on Stage. Sarah is in my freshman seminar. They were both on the flight I was attempting to take...so Lexi was nice and called Rachel, my director for Audience (a one act), and let her know that I probably wouldn't be at practice since I was stuck in Sea-Tac. I didn't make it on that flight, so I asked if I could be rolled over to the next flight. It took them forever, but finally I was rolled over, and had to book it from the North Satellite to C Concourse.
I made it there with twenty minutes before boarding, and the lady said I was at the top of the list for stand-by, so I had a chance to get on the plane. I was really excited. I ran into Ben, who is a pretty cool kid from Stadium that now goes to Whitworth. =] He was on the flight, so I got to hang out with him until he boarded... They had locked the gate and I was like...aw crap I have to wait for the next flight. and then the lady said MY NAME. so I got on the 7pm flight out and made it home just in time to RUN to play practice. it was wonderful.
and then I came back, went to get food, and did homework.

How come I end up where I started?
How can I end up where I went wrong? Won't take my eyes off the ball again. You reel me out and you cut the string.
I definitely just had two of four classes canceled today. =] I'm about to go take a nap, but I figured I would tell you guys one little thing:
I COME HOME TOMORROW!
While I'm home, I want to:
I definitely just had two of four classes canceled today. =] I'm about to go take a nap, but I figured I would tell you guys one little thing:
I COME HOME TOMORROW!
While I'm home, I want to:
- go see Twilight with all of my Twi-hard friends.
- have coffee with Starshine, Undarling, Amanda, and maybe even Ms. R
- see my whole family
- pig out on Grandma's cooking
- beat my cousins in the area of pie-eating
- be called pretty by my little sister (fat chance)
- go to church at MVPC!
- see all of my MVPC friends
- see all of my school friends (this may have to wait until Christmas break)
- finish my hobo-pants (someone needs to run them over still)
- sleep a lot
- and sleeeeeeep some more.
Also, I went and saw Twilight at midnight. I think that I adored it, for the most part, and hated little bits. Overall, they did a good job and it is a satisfactory adaptation. Some high/low lights:
- the meadow scene. what happened to the romance?
- sparkling vampires are always pretty.
- the cullens' house was definitely NOT a pretty, white Victorian-style house.
- Jasper's hair! It grew on me.
- Alice. She was perfect. I was saddened.
- the humans! awww, Mike.
- Angela was pretty spot-on.
- Eric was hilarious, and good as an Asian. (Is he Asian in the books?)
- Jessica. grrrr. she made me angry, in a good way.
- the baseball scene.
- Jacob's wig.
- Cam Gigandet - and his chest, which we see frequently.
- Carlisle and Esme were not good-looking.
- Rosalie was simply average human pretty.
- Victoria and James were SO intense.
- Laurent. or as Edi says it: "Laorun" wth?
- Billy Black! coolest old guy ever.
- Charlie reminded me of my own dad, in a very good way.
- the prom scene. good and bad.
- Jacob's warning was excellent.
- WHERE WERE THE OTHER CULLENS???? I wanted to see Alice's prom dress.
- the song that played during the credits - 15 Step by Radiohead- was amazing.
- Bella's Lullaby = crap.
I had a really freaking long list, and my computer spazzed and deleted almost all of it. I'm attempting to remember most of it...
alright, well, I'm taking a nap now. see y'all tomorrow!

I will always reach to high 'cause I 've seen...
TWILIGHT...
So yesterday I turned eighteen. Sounds like a big deal, huh? It was nice getting all the attention and people attacking me with yells of "Happy Birthday!" but it really doesn't feel any different than 17 did two days ago.
One of many highlights was registering for spring semester and Jan term. Jan Term, for those of you who don't know yet, is a three week intensive course where you take a maximum of five credits and you go to class everyday of the week for three hours. I'm taking Arthurian Legends from Melissa Sprenkle, my advisor. =]
For the spring semester, I am taking Core 150, which is a worldview class in lecture form, and my discussion group leader is Reid. Megan, Aileen, and I all somehow got into the same d-group! =D I am also taking Intro To Sociology from Holsinger, and Intro to Theatre from Brooke! (she is my Acting I teacher right now). I got into my Life and Teachings of Jesus class, which is the class I sat in on as a pre-frosh, with the same teacher too! Professor Dolan teaches that. And the evil natural science class: Introductory Biology with Pond. I think I will survive. I'm really excited for most of these classes!

I write you letters, but I don't send them...
I just can't figure out how to end them.
Wow. Things are so crazy here. I got my first birthday stuff in the mail. It is DEFINITELY already open (sorry mom!) but I haven't looked through everything. I'm taking it slowly.
I've been feeling really disconnected lately. I just don't ever feel like I'm really there when I'm hanging out with my friends. Every so often I'm there and it's wonderful, but mostly I'm somewhere else and I don't know where. I feel like I'm kind of hiding on the back of a shelf, desperately wishing to be found but to afraid to make myself visible.
I need to get my haircut. I don't have bangs anymore, and I miss them. I'm also trying to decide if I should keep the current color or dye it. Any suggestions?
I miiiight go salsa dancing tonight. I kind of want to, but last time I went I got stepped on and broke my toenail is half so...We'll see. I already bought my ticket for Twilight. I am so freaking excited for my birthday. I don't even care that I have to do a bunch of work for projects that day...I'm going to be EIGHTEEN and I get to go see Twilight with my friends (although not all of them =[ ) and then friday night is our hall sleepover thingamabob and that is exciting too. And then I come home for THANKSGIVING! YAY! I am so excited to see everyone. MVPC'rs, you better be at church the sunday after Thanksgiving!!!! I want to see you guys!
Alright, I'm going to go get some homework done...or be distracted by friends.

The social scene where she gets her fix...
has been broken since '86. Just look at that social clique. Do you really want to be part of it?
Tuesdays are always hectic. I have a meeting with my Advisor, Melissa Sprenkle (officially the coolest last name ever!) at 2:20 instead of Freshman Seminar today.
I got my ensemble scene today. I'm in a group with Aryn and Luke (the only guy in our class). Aryn is wonderful, but I think working with Luke is going to be a bit of a challenge. We're doing part of a scene from Arsenic and Old Lace, which makes me really happy. =] Brooke decided that I should be Martha. I get to be happy about killing people! Yay for dark humour!
I'm really nervous about my Voice final. We went through the song in class today. Most of the song is really easy, all chest voice and fairly simple. And then BAM! It's way high up in my head voice and I psych myself out. I think with a lot of practice I will be able to sing it through. and I'll keep practicing Over the Rainbow too. Maybe when I come home I can play it for you guys. =D
There is a hypnotist coming to campus tonight that I might go see (for entertainment, not to be hypnotized). All depends on homework. I don't think I have very much, probably just calc and reading. I wonder if anyone else is going.
Yesterday I totally went to a Knowledge Bowl meet. Only for the first match, but it was a lot of fun. Charlie Brown (uh, Mike. He played Charlie Brown in Frosh on Stage and I still call him that) went too - he drove - and it was at his old high school so he knew some of the people. It was a lot of fun and between Charlie Brown and I we would have won the match.
So I just go back from my meeting with my advisor. Holy crap. I cannot afford to fail ANY class, because I won't have room to retake them. If I want to get all of this done in four years, I have to work my butt off. It's going to be an intense four years. Oh, and I probably won't get to take Mime next semester. =[
I need to get started on the homework, so until next time, I leave you to contemplate how the heck I'm going to survive.

Let me light up the sky just for you tonight...
Let me help you fly 'cause you won't have time to cover your eyes or get your disguise. They won't ask you why. They'll just watch you die. And it's still so hard to be who you are, so you play this part and the show goes on, but you've come this far with a broken heart.Yeah, you've come this far and you're broken.
I've got a twenty minute break right now, between Reading Literature and Writing II. I spend it on Facebook normally, but I figure that I'd just give you an update. I like blogging. It's like writing in a public diary!
My classes are all pretty great. Calculus sucks because it is at eight in the frickin' morning, but otherwise it's going pretty well. I've been getting 90's on my tests! We have a test this coming Friday, and I'm a little nervous because it covers related rates and such stuff. Reading Lit is so much fun! I'm enjoying it a lot. We've focused on different criticisms, like psychoanalysis and gender readings. My teacher won't let us do Deconstructionism because he thinks it's too hard for freshman! Considering I did deconstruction senior year....he might be wrong. Writing II is going alright... It's gotten really boring lately. We did have a fun day last Friday, where all we did was talk about the teacher's master thesis. It was great. =] You learn a lot from stuff like that. Yoga is really tough, especially since I have a huge nasty bruise on my ankle. With friends like mine, who needs enemies? Voice is going great. I'm singing My Heart Will Go On from Titanic for the final! Acting is a blast. I don't even consider it a class because it's just so much fun. I just finished a partner scene in Acting. Emma and I did scene two from The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. I was Amanda, the mom. It was a blast and went really well. Freshman Seminar is a breeze, and I love my advisor. Melissa Sprenkle is wonderful. She's been really good about making sure I'm not overtaxing myself, and I'm meeting with her tomorrow to go over what classes I want to take next semester.
I put together my four year plan the other day. I will be taking 16-17 credits every semester until I graduate in order to get my B.A. in English/Language Arts w/ Secondary Ceritification and a minor in Theatre Performance. It will be really intense...but I think I can do it.
I'm sure that I have more to say...but I have homework and that should come first. =D
Namarie!

For the first time in a long time...
Here it is. My newly established mode of communication with home. I'm emailing the link to my mom as soon as I finish this post, and then she will forward it to y'all. This is going to be my attempt at keeping everyone equally updated on what is going on as I travel through my life.
My head hurts, either due to lack of sleep or staring at a computer screen for too long. The "f" key on my laptop is sticking, and I'm attempting to write an essay about the endowed reader for the year. Tony Earley. He's an excellent author...but his presentation could have been better. I'm currently running a laundry monopoly in the basement, and I turn 18 in less than two weeks. How crazy is that?
Oh, my freshman seminar class has a blog too. http://ge125.blogspot.com The peer advisor, Katie, has been uploading some of the work we have done in class. One of the haiku that is up there was written by moi. Which brings me to a question: Would those of you who read this like me to post some of my assignments up here so you can read them?
Nothing is going on this weekend, really. Kristin, who lives down the hall from me, has some friends from high school over. She went to Bellevue Christian! I watched them go ice skating yesterday, and it was really fun. Tonight there is a program called "Permission to Struggle" that I'm thinking about going to, but only if I finish the essay that I'm currently procrastinating on. Oops, Mom, don't kill me!
I'm coming home for Thanksgiving! I land at Sea-Tac around 6pm on the 25th, and I get back to Spokane around 4:30pm on the 30th. I'm really excited to eat some of Grandma's cherry pie, and see all my relatives!
Well, I actually finished my essay while writing this entry AND doing laundry, so I'm going to sign off and go have some fun for a little bit.
Namarie!
P.S. My titles are song lyrics, I've decided. Kudos to the first person to guess right!
